Betty Driver, a popular big band singer in the 1940s who also had her own show in BBC tv in the early 1950s, dies peacefully in hospital, aged 91, in Cheadle, England, UK. Despite her significant successes as a singer, she is best-remembered for her role as Betty Williams (aka Betty Turpin) in the long-running tv series Coronation Street.
