Fact #135839

When:

Short story:

The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and The Rutles play at The Spiegeltent, Waterfront Square, Bristol, England, UK.

Full article:

Johnny Black (audience) : My wife Carol and I attended this gig with neighbours Dave and Sue Buxton, who drove us from Devizes on a wet and windy evening. The plan was to meet up with our son, Billy Black, for dinner at The Christmas Steps, but we got stuck in traffic on the M32 and had to make our way straight to the gig without dining! The Spiegeltent, we felt, was somewhat jam-packed, as if the organisers had tried to cram in too many tables to make the maximum possible profit, so we all had to squeeze past other patrons. Also there was no food of any description - not even crisps or peanuts.

Luckily the music more than made up for those organisational defects and an unexpected bonus was that one of the Bonzos' guitarists was the legendary Elliott Randall, still as nimble fingered as he was during his days with Steely Dan.
