Midnight Oil play a "special guerrilla action" live show outside Exxon Oil headquarters on The Avenue of the Americas, midtown Manhattan, New York City, USA, as a protest against one of the worst environmental disasters in history when nearly 11m gallons of oil were spilled onto the Alaskan coastline by the Exxon Valdez. The band's gig, from the back of a flat-bed truck, draws more than 10,000 people onto the street, and is broadcast on radio. That same evening, Midnight Oil play at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, USA, supported by Hunters And Collectors.
