Fact #126058

When:

Short story:

The New Journeymen [later to become The Mamas And The Papas) decide to move out of New York City, USA, and live in the Virgin Islands.

Full article:

Michelle Phillips (Mamas And Papas) : On January 9, the first night I ever took psychedelics, she (Mama Cass Elliott) turned up on our doorstep, this huge girl with her white pleated skirt, pink angora sweater, hair in a flip, white go-go boots and eyelashes out to here!

That night, I was blindfolded, placed in front of a huge map and given a dart. Wherever the dart hit, we would go. It ended up in the Atlantic Ocean, but close enough to the Virgin Islands. Within two weeks we were living in tents, drinking rum, singing under tha palm trees.

Michelle Phillips (Mamas And Papas) : The four of us would drop acid every full moon. Then we'd take a catamaran out and float in that warm Caribbean water. It was very sensual, I can tell you. So much so that Denny and I started playing a little footsie.

When Denny put me up against a wall and gave me this big, wet, luscious kiss, I went to John later that day and said that perhaps we should move away. He asked me why and I confessed that I could feel myself becoming attracted to Denny.

It was dismissed out of hand. John didn't even want to go there. He was too busy thinking about the next vocal arrangement.
