Tom Jones : They said, 'You'll have to cool it down. Don't do any of that bumping and grinding or we'll do to you like we did to Elvis - shoot you from the waist up.' I couldn't believe it. You'd think America - the land of rock'n'roll, James Dean, fast Cars, Al Capone - but they were more uptight than anywhere. You had to change lyrics on songs if Ed Sullivan thought it was too risque.
