Full article:

Robert Wyatt (Soft Machine) : They'd booked studio time almost open-season, go round and try out ideas. I was trying a tune myself, a Mose Allison-ish bluesy thing called Slow Walking Talk and could play all the parts, the drums and the organ, because I could multi-track, but I couldn't play bass. He just appeared at the door, sat around for a bit and then said, 'Need a bass part for that?'

He borrowed an old right-handed bass guitar and, upside down, laid down a rock-solid bassline, every chord change and rhythmic twist and turn totally spot on - no rehearsal, no run-through.
