Henry Diltz (album cover photographer) : We went to the Cahuilla Indian Reservation in the desert near Palm Springs. We rented horses and had a cowboy as a guide. Gary (sleeve designer Gary Burden) wanted to bring a big mirror so we could lay it on the ground so it would look like a hole in the ground and have the boys lean over it to look like a reflection. It was a two or three-hour ride on horseback and this poor wrangler guy had to ride one-handed and ferry this mirror under his rm. We rode and rode through the desert until we came to a palm oasis where there was a spring and a little pond where we all swam. That night, we sat around the campfire and took pictures well into the night.
