Fact #111698

When:

Short story:

The Zombies play the second of ten nights at Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Manila, Philippines, Asia.

Full article:

Hugh Grundy (drummer, The Zombies) : On Friday night (March 3, 1967) we played to 27,000 people and last night (Saturday) we played to 31,000 people, which is absolutely fantastic. The people are so hospitable towards us. They do anything for you. Anything I want I ask for and get. It's really true. It's a very rough place though, most people carry guns. I was looking at one this morning, lovely little gun but deadly. If it's not guns then they carry knives. We all go out in a bunch, never alone, in a car with the doors locked. At the TV studio, there were two men outside dangling machine guns in their hands. But don't you worry, we're being looked after very well indeed.
