I can tell you that the first time she came over, she was filling 500 capacity clubs in New York and Los Angeles without even having a record out here. Those shows were selling out instantly, though a combination of word of mouth and online. There are a lot of young girls in her audience - I refer to some of them as shriekers - but where do they come from, how do they know about this?
In North America we have a pop radio format, which is where most kids hear music, but Ellie had an audience without any of that. Her shows were exciting.
