Full article:
Muff Winwood (bassist, The Spencer Davis Group) : We were in Newcastle on a day off from our touring schedule, so we got tickets in the balcony at The City Hall to see the Motown Revue. It was a fantastic line-up and a brilliant show, but they just weren't getting any audiences. They had added Georgie Fame onto the bill in the hope of bringing in more people, but the venue was almost empty. There was an announcement from the stage right at the start that if anybody in the balcony wanted to come downstairs, it would be much appreciated, otherwise the bands would be playing to a largely empty hall. As it was, I think only about the first fifteen rows were full, and the rest of the place was almost empty.
