Mike Sheridan And The Night Riders record their version of the Gerry Goffin and Carole King composition What A Sweet Thing That Was, at EMI's Abbey Road Studios, London, UK. Night Rider Roy Wood will go on to form The Move, Wizzard and Electric Light Orchestra.

Roy Wood (The Night Riders) : We were invited to a Abbey Road at a time new groups used to make singles in th engineer's lunch break.

All The Beatles guitars were stacked up in the corner of Studio 2. Mike Sheridan nicked one of John Lennon's plectrums and wore it round his neck on a chain.

I was impressed with the place, but we didn't get much chance to form any opinion about the sound and engineering because we were in and out in two hours.
