A new album, Abbey Road : A Tribute to the Beatles, is released in the UK. The album features covers by Jackson Browne, Tangerine Dream, Dweezil Zappa, The Sweet and others, of songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles.
Maximo Park are obliged to turn fans away from a charity gig at Newcastle College Performance Academy, Newcastle, UK, because over 2,500 people have turned up to claim 400 free tickets. The tickets were being given away free in return for a small donation to Britain's No Surrender cancer charity.
