While making the promotional film for The Beatles' song Strawberry Fields Forever, around Knole Park near Sevenoaks in Kent, England, UK, Europe, John Lennon and the group's road manager, Tony Bramwell, visit the town during a break. In an antique shop, they notice a framed Victorian circus poster and Lennon buys it. The poster, printed in 1843, advertises a show by Pablo Fanque's Circus Royal, held at Town Meadows, Rochdale, Lancashire on the evening of February 14th 1843. The wording of the poster will be adapted to become the lyric of the song Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite.

The musical Fiddler On The Roof, starring Zero Mostel, is performed at The Majestic Theatre, Broadway, New York City, USA. It will run continuously (but at three different theatres) until 1972 notching up 3,242 performances.
