James Francis Edward Stuart, sometimes called The Old Pretender, becomes the Jacobite claimant to the thrones of England and Scotland. There have been many folk songs inspired by the Jacobite cause, most of which are about James's rather more dashing and romantic son, Bonnie Prince Charlie, but The Braes of Killiecrankie celebrates a Jacobite victory by forces supporting James at the Battle of Killiecrankie in Scotland.
