Zachary Swanson of Hebron, Wicomico County, Maryland, USA, is attacked by Paul Martin Hurst and Cary Lee Edwards, both members of the Juggalos, a loosely-organised cult of followers of the band Insane Clown Posse. As a result of the attack, motivated by his wearing of a Juggalos tattoo which Hurst and Edwards felt he had not earned, Swanson suffers fractures to his nasal area and face, brain bleeding, swelling around his eyes, eleven broken ribs and a liver laceration. Hurst and Edwards are arrested soon after.

It is announced that an urn containing the ashes of 50s deejay Alan Freed, who was credited with popularising the term rock'n'roll, has recently been removed from the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The Museum's executive driector Greg Harris, explains, "The museum world is moving away from exhibiting remains," arguing that ashes don't help tell a story. The rest of Freed's exhibit in the museum remains in place.
