A new railway station is opened at Ditton, near Widnes, Cheshire, England, UK, Europe. It was at this station in 1965, after performing in Widnes, that Paul Simon was inspired to begin writing his song Homeward Bound, which would become the first major hit for Simon And Garfunkel.
