Full article:

Randy Bachman (of Winnipeg band Chad Allen And The Reflections) : The scene in Winnipeg was getting so big that entrepreneurs started to sniff around, going, '"Wow, there's this scene here." And there was no alcohol, because the drinking age was 21, so you had all these teenagers paying a dollar to get into the community centres and all you need to have on sale is popcorn for a dime a box and Coca Cola and Seven Up for a dime. So they'd get $150 for tickets, plus whatever they made on the popcorn and drinks, and pay the band $25, and rental on the hall, and they'd come out with maybe a $50 profit.

But they knew that if they owned their own premises, there'd be no rental, and they could make a bigger profit. So, round about 63-64 that's how the Fourth Dimension started, and the Twilight Zone which was over on Neil's end of town. Jay's Discotheque
