Fact #93718

When:

Short story:

Calne-based band The Pack have an afternoon performance at The Marquee Club, London, England, UK, Europe, along with Jonathan King and Cilla Black. In the evening, they play at Wimbledon Palais with Dusty Springfield, Hedgehoppers Anonymous, Jonathan King and Chris Andrews. The band finishes the day by spending the night at Chris Andrews' flat.

Full article:

Rod Goodway (guitar/vocals, The Pack) : I was eighteen and should've been on top of the world but my steam hammer of a rock band had been whittled away by circumstance and just two of us from the original line-up were now reduced to standing in a queue at 2.30 in the afternoon next to Jonathan King and Lionel Blair And His Dancers (in the same queue was Cilla Black and Chris 'Yesterday Man' Andrews) before the dubious pleasure of miming to 'our hit' single onstage at London's Marquee Club. Regardless of the unholy time of day the place was packed (sic).

That same evening we 'played' (mimed) at Wimbledon Palais alongside RAF dropouts Hedgehoppers Anonymous, Jonathan (Everyone's Gone To The Moon) King, Chris Andrews and the amazingly petite doll and super shining star Dusty Springfield.

Our drummer, Bob Duck, actually got tiny Dusty's autograph, something we mercilessly ribbed him about. Of course, now I wish I'd asked her as well.

That night we stayed at Chris Andrews' place, much to the displeasure of his German wife.

We also played the 100 Club for Radio Caroline along with The Applejacks and The Tornados. (Though surely not on the same night? But that's what the diary says.)
