When:
Short story:
A serial killer known as The Axeman Of New
Orleans commits the first of many gruesome murders when he
kills Italian grocer Joseph Maggio and his wife Catherine. The
Axeman will commit at least ten other murders and will never be
caught. His exploits will be recorded in the 1919 song The
Mysterious Axman's Jazz [Don't Scare Me Papa] by Joseph John
Davilla. Later songs on the same theme include, Axeman Of New
Orleans by The Tombstones, Axeman by Amebix and Deathjazz by the One Ton Project.
