Full article:

Steve Andrews (A+R man, Chrysalis) : In 1978, Roy Eldridge asked me to join him and Chris Briggs in the Chrysalis Records A+R department. The label was very hot at the time, with hits by The Specials, Generation X, Spandau Ballet and US acts Blondie, Huey Lewis and Pat Benatar. I persuaded them to sign the Midge Ure-fronted version of Ultravox after seeing them at Camden Palace, but couldn’t get them interested in a band from Birmingham called Duran Duran. They thought they’d got the New Romantic Thing sewn up with Spandau and Ultravox. (Source : interview with Chas De Whalley, Live UK, October 2008)
