Fact #82243
When:
Short story:
British miners come out on strike for fairer pay and conditions. In response, the ruling Conservative government declares a state of emergency and a three day working week but these harsh measures result in the collapse of the government. The song The Great 1974 Mining Disaster by Barclay James Harvest will be inspired by the strike, and will use the melody of The Bee Gees 1967 hit single New York Mining Disaster 1941 as its tune.
