Twelve-year-old Howard Dully, diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia, is admitted to The Doctors General Hospital, San Jose, California, USA. Dr. Walter Freeman performs a transorbital lobotomy on the boy who will, in later years, spend much of his youth in foster homes, jails and mental institutions. His story will form the basis of the song Before The Lobotomy by Green Day.
