Celebrated record producer Hugh Mendl dies aged 88 in Torbay, Devon, UK, Europe. Mendl was responsible for Lonnie Donegan's first recordings, which launched the skiffle craze and led to the birth of British rock'n'roll. In the 1960s he was instrumental in bringing David Bowie and Genesis to Decca and produced The Moody Blues' album Days of Future Passed.
