Fact #7654
When:
Short story:
The first commercially-available stereophonic long-playing disc is publicly demonstrated by the New York-based record company Audio Fidelity at the Times Auditorium in New York City. Pressed up in an edition of 500 copies, the disc features music by The Dukes Of Dixieland on one side with 'Railroad Sounds' on the other side. Despite the fact that only a handful of stereophonic record players exist outside of testing labs in the USA, the company is beginning to make stereo recordings available for music lovers who intend to convert to stereo at some point in the future.
