When:

Short story:

On the White Riot Tour, The Clash, The Jam, The Buzzcocks, The Slits and The Subway Sect play at the City Hall, St. Albans, UK. After the show, police officers stop The Clash and strip search them at the local station but find nothing. A search of the band's van, however, unearths pillow cases, keys and towels from the Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn, Newcastle, where the band played the previous day. Charges of theft are laid against Joe Strummer and Topper Headon.
