Fact #71346

When:

Short story:

Australian rock legends AC/DC stage their first ever show in Bulgaria, Europe, at Vassil Levski national stadium, Sofia. The band arrives in the Bulgarian capital with a convoy of ten equipment trucks, ten buses and a road crew of 100. The audience of 55,000 fans sets a new attendance record for a single concert in Bulgaria.

Full article:

David Lieberberg (promoter, Balkan Entertainment Company) : I think the most special show here ever was AC/DC, because Bulgarians have been waiting for that for over thirty years. A lot of people had gone to jail under the Communist regime just for listening to AC/DC. My business partner, Peter Petrov, started his first band because of AC/DC. It was a sold out concert with an atmosphere I have never seen anywhere else. I've been 38 years in the biz, so I know an audience when I see one, and this is a crazy and most loyal audience.

It brought out three generations, grandfather, father and son, all with tears in their eyes. Everybody was drunk with happiness and there was not one incident.
