When Carlos Santana plays the first of two nights in the Sunrise Music Theatre, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, jazz-rock bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorius comes onstage without permission. Pastorius is then thrown out of the theatre and goes to the Midnight Bottle Club in nearby Wilton Manors, where he becomes involved in a confrontation with bouncer Luc Havan. Pastorius is stabbed and dies several days later.
