Jack Barrie (manager, the Marquee) : By the time they came back to the Marquee in September, they knew they were in a stronger position. They came to Nigel Hutchings, who was the booking manager at The Marquee, with the idea that they should have a regular Monday night residency at The Marquee. This was something that used to happen often in the sixties with bands on the way up, but it had stopped, so they would be seen to be the first band to get a Marquee residency in many years.
I was favourably impressed. They were tight, very well-rehearsed and, even across those four weeks you could see the following build up as the buzz went round.
