Alex Coletti (executive producer, Unplugged) : It was the first time we had an artist who could carry a whole show. Don brought background vocalists, he brought string players. The level of musicians that he had, the quality of players, the thought he put into the arrangements, was unprecedented at that time.
Before, it was more of a hootenanny jam, ‘Let’s figure it out in the dressing room’ kind of approach. And now here was a show that was rehearsed.
Don Henley allowed us to pursue Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton. Now, all of a sudden, people knew about Unplugged and wanted to do it. And they saw this as a vehicle.
