The theremin becomes the first electronic instrument to be heard in Carnegie Hall, New York City, USA, when its inventor Leon Theremin presents a concert of his Music From The Ether, showcasing his self-named electronic instrument. The instrument will subsequently earn a place in countless horror film soundtracks, and on several pop and rock songs, possibly including The Beach Boys' song Good Vibrations.
