Sullivan, however, declines to introduce him, leaving that chore to actor Charles Laughton. Pandemonium ensues among the teenage audience, and the show is a turning point in rock history. Watching at home in New Jersey is a seven year old boy called Bruce Springsteen who immediately convinces his parents to buy him a guitar. Watching in Lubbock, Texas, is Buddy Holly.
