Gerry Marsden : Ferry was written for the film Ferry 'Cross The Mersey. In those days we didn't have videos you could send all across the world. So The Beatles did Help! And that movie was like a video. What you did in those days was make a film and let the kids see you were doing it. And our film was Ferry 'Cross The Mersey. It was a very pleasant video and the kids in the US, Australia, Canada and Singapore - could see what we were doing.
