Paul McCartney : Derek Taylor? He was loveable. Intelligent. Witty. Incorrigible. The first time we ever met him, he stuck his foot in the door in Southport. We'd said, 'No journalists,' and he actually put his foot in the door, so we decided, 'OK, we'd better let him in. He's got a bit of balls.' He came in and he was just a lovely, lovely man.
Eventually, he became our PR man. We had a lot of publicity guys, but he was the best. We'd be sitting around late at night, laughing uncontrollably at the things he was saying. He used to pull things out of the newspapers. He was a bit of a surrealist. He used to read us those headlines from Variety magazine in America, which had a language of its own, and always got us laughing. He was a genius, a beautiful guy. We all loved him. The best.
