Fact #49904

When:

Short story:

The Charlie Parker Reboppers record Now's The Time, for Savoy Records at WOR Studios, Broadway, New York City, USA. The track's main melody will later be recycled more successfully by Paul Williams under the title The Hucklebuck, also for Savoy Records. It should be noted, however, that Williams didn't steal it from Parker. He stole it from D Natural Blues, a clearly Parker-influenced song he'd heard played live by Lucky Millinder And His Band, who later recorded it for RCA Records.
