The PPL Parliamentary Jazz Awards, attended by culture minister Ed Vaizey, are held in the Terrace Pavilion, House of Commons, London, UK. Mark Lockheart wins the jazz musician honour and No Messin' by The Gareth Lockrane Septet wins the jazz album award. Other winners include Jazz Ensemble - The Nigel Price Organ Trio; jazz venue - The Jazz Bar (Edinburgh jazz broadcaster - Alyn Shipton; jazz publication - Jazzwise. The event is hosted by Paul Gambaccini and guests are treated to a live performance by 2009 Jazz Musician of the Year Phil Robson with vocalist Christine Tobin.
