Fact #32351

Short story:

Jelly Roll Morton writes to Assistant Attorney General Thurmond W. Arnold of the US Justice Department's antitrust division, objecting to the underhanded dealings of Walter Melrose, his music publisher. "Walter Melrose, never wrote a hit in his life," writes Morton. "Melrose is my publisher. He inserted words to some of my hit tunes without my knowledge or permission and is receiving royalties."
