Fact #31406

When:

Short story:

Chuck Berry is found guilty in United States District Court, St Louis, Missouri, USA, of violating the Mann Act by transporting a 14-year-old Indian girl from El Paso, Texas, to St. Louis for immoral purposes. This is Berry's second conviction on the same charge. He was previously given five years in prison and fined $5000, but the US Court of Appeals remanded that sentence after finding that Judge George H. Moore disparaged the defendant by asking repeated questions about race in the trial. On the same day, Berry plays at Georgia Tech, Athens, Georgia, USA.
