During a coffee break at a recording session for the debut LP by The Chris Barber Jazz Band in Decca Studios, Maida Vale, London, England, UK, Europe, Barber and his banjo player Lonnie Donegan are allowed to record a couple of songs - Rock Island Line and John Henry - in a new style called skiffle. Donegan and skiffle will go on to become hugely successful among the youth of the UK.
