Fact #20126

When:

Short story:

Cliff Richard records Big News and Bachelor Boy in EMI's Abbey Road Studios, London, UK.

Full article:

Bruce Welch (guitarist, The Shadows] : I wrote quite a few songs for Cliff, I Love You, Please Don't Tease, Don't Talk To Him, but I remember with Bachelor Boy that I had the title for quite a long while, because cliff was already known as the Bachelor Boy.

When we went off to film Summer Holiday, we had our guitars with us and in breaks between filming we'd usually sit around and sing. I started writing Bachelor Boy on the beach out there in Greece. I had the hook, the chorus, but I couldn't complete the verses.

Then, when filming ended, we came back to England but we suddenly got word that the film was too short. The simplest way to fill it out was to put in another song, so Cliff and I sat down and between us we completed the verses.

Then, because there was no budget to fly us all back out to Greece, they mocked up a set at Elstree Studios with the bus and everything, and we pranced around doing Bachelor Boy.
