Diane Warren (songwriter) : For You I Will is a title I had that I thought I could write a cool song around. It's really about being there for the one or the ones you love, and going to any lengths or distance for somebody.

I usually write everything in my little demo studio in my office, but I remember when I was working on this one, I had a meeting with Barbra Streisand about doing something for one of her movies. I was early for the meeting and I parked my car in front of her house and was writing the bridge in the car, which was quite funny really.

It really worked out fine in the movie (Space Jam) and that's what I try to do. I try to write a song that will work as well outside the movie as it does within it. For instance, How Will I Live, which was in Con Air and recorded first by Trisha Yearwood and them LeeAn Rimes is now the longest-running hit in US chart history.

But I've also written songs that you just have to wait around to happen, and maybe the first version isn't going to be the one that hits. I still rally want to write standards and copyrights that are going to last and which are going to transcend their time and place. That's what a great song will do and it's not limited to one interpretation.

Sometimes it can really blow you away, like my song I Don't Want To Miss A Thing which was a huge hit for Aerosmith and was also a number one country hit for a guy named Mark Chesnutt. A great song will have a life of its own, and that's the kind of song I like to be involved with. It's my responsibility to do the best with the gift that I've been given.
