Joan L. Gangemi (audience) : I have always been a huge country music fan. On Friday nights, before I got married the first time, I would go to pick up my stepdad from his job and I would always get there about an hour early because I would sit in the car listening to WWVA in Wheeling, West Virginia, because I loved the country music they played. It was the only night that I could get that station for some reason but then again I was listening on a regular auto radio with a regular auto antenna and I was in Boston (Hyde Park) Massachusetts.

At our wedding, my first husband and I did our first dance to Eddy Arnold's Make The World Go Away. We saw quite a few artists during the 60's including George Jones, and Tammy Wynette. We went to a couple of concerts of the Statler Brothers while we still lived in Massachusetts, but I now live in South West Florida.

At the start of this show in Boston Arena they had a moment of silence for President Kennedy, who had been assassinated just a day earlier. The Old Boston Arena was an indoor venue, and I remember it was cold outside. because it starts getting cooler in October up there.

I remember there were many people in the arena. The show was fantastic and, in my mind, I can still see the stage in the middle of the arena. I seem to remember that Lefty sang Mom And Dad's Waltz which is one of my favourites. Hank Williams Jr. was just 14 at the time. I remember we had a fantastic time. I was able to go backstage for a short period, which enabled me to get autographs from Lefty Frizzell, Wilma Lee And Stoney Cooper and many of the other artists.

We also went to the Grand Ole Opry in the 80's, where we saw Porter Wagner, The Osborne Brothers, Louise Mandrell and a lot more, including Tanya Tucker. I always had my camera with me, so I have many pictures from that trip and also our trip to Branson, Missouri, where we saw Charlie Pride, Roy Clark, Boxcar Willie, Mel Tillis, Shoji Trabuki etc. Charlie Pride's son was there also and has a beautiful voice as well. We had hoped to see Loretta Lynn then but her shows were cancelled because she had lost her husband shortly before we went there. I have a picture of my late second husband and myself with Boxcar Willie between us, a really nice close up. I have close ups of Roy Clark and Charlie Pride as well as all the pictures I took at the Grand Ole Opry.

I am nearly deaf and so when my late husband and I went to the Opry and Branson when purchasing tickets to those shows I explained that I needed seats close to the stage. They were all very accommodating. Most were first or second row every time.
