Full article:

M.J. (reviewer, Melody Maker] : His [Little Richard's) singing was as exciting and powerful as ever, as he shouted his way through Long Tall Sally, Jenny Jenny, Rip It Up, Hound Dog and many other vintage rockers from his best-selling record period.

Keith Richards (guitarist, Rolling Stones) : This was our first contact with the cats whose music we'd been playing. Hearing Little Richard and Bo Diddley and The Everly Brothers every night was the way we'd been drawn into the whole pop thing. We didn't feel we were selling out, because we were learning a lot by going into this side of the scene - where audiences sat and listened and watched, instead of just dancing to it. That was when Mick really started coming into his own.

Little Richard : Mick Jagger used to sit at the side of the stage watching my act. Every performance. They had a little record out, a cover of Chuck Berry's Come On, but they had never done a tour before. Mick opened the show with The Rolling Stones. They were making $50 a night. He couldn't even pay for his room. Mick used to talk to me all the time. He'd sit there and talk all night if I let him. He and the others used to sleep on Bo Diddley's floor in the hotel.

Mick Jagger : He drove the whole house into a complete frenzy. There's no single phrase to describe his hold on the audience. It might excite some and terrify others. It's hypnotic, like an evangelistic meeting where, for want of a better phrase, Richard is the disciple and the audience is the flock that follows. I couldn't believe the power of Little Richard on stage. He was amazing.

Keith Richards : One night in my dressing room, the stage manager sticks his head in the door and yells, "You're on!" So we're picking up guitars and heading for the stage, and as we're walking downstairs, Brian passes me and I say, "You cunt, you et me chicken!" and I bopped him in the eye. We went on stage, and as we're playing, Brian's eye starts to swell and change colors. In the next few days, it turned every colour of the rainbow - red, purple, blue, green, yellow.
