Maurice Ravel, composer of Bolero, dies in hospital in Paris, France, Europe. The cause of his death is uncertain but experts have variously suggested frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. Numerous popular songs have taken inspiration from the idea of the Bolero rhythm, including Running Scared by Roy Orbison, Beck's Bolero by Jeff Beck and White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane.
