Comedian, singer and actor George Robey dies, just over a week after suffering a stroke, at his home in Saltdean, East Sussex, England, UK, Europe. He had been one of the greatest music hall performers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and his name became known to thousands of rock music fans because of the Finsbury Park pub named after him, The Sir George Robey, which presented live music until 2004. Artists appearing there included Bad Manners, Blur, Billy Bragg, Carter USM, Desmond Dekker, Fairport Convention, Gong, Hawkwind, Bert Jansch, Roy Harper, Ralph McTell, and They Might Be Giants.
