Lev Davidovich Bronstein is born in Yanovka, in the Kherson governorate of the Russian Empire (now Bereslavka, in Ukraine). Under the name Leon Trotsky, his left-wing Marxist-Trotskyist doctrine will influence millions of people, including numerous musicians, such as Woody Guthrie, Billy Bragg and Pete Seeger. In particular, British 80s punk rockers The Redskins will be inspired by Trotsky's philosophies to write and record their 1982 song Lev Bronstein.
