Mike Dewdney (audience) : That was a brilliant gig. They were still very young and energetic but Vince Clarke, who had been their main songwriter, had left the band not long before. I remember going along, there was probably only about a thousand people in there. The light show consisted of fluorescent tubes behind them, all different colours, sometimes simplicity is the best thing. Because everything was done with synthesisers, Depeche could replicate their studio sound live, and I thought it was fantastic.
