Suzanne Vega : The police told me not to go on, but I said I had to because I was headlining. So I wore a bullet-proof vest. It seemed unlikely that I would be assassinated, but it was shocking and very stressful.

My bass player's life and my life were threatened. We think we know who was behind it but I'd rather not go into it for the person to read about it with pleasure.
The cops said we shouldn't go on but I did the show in my bullet-proof vest. It was either that or running from them for the rest of our lives. You've got to take it seriously when something like that happens - you don't know what's in someone's mind.
