P.P. Arnold (backing vocalist) : Madeleine Bell and I did that session. Joe was cool. Everybody was just themselves. I just remember the session being really cool, and Joe with this big voice, great voice. The thing that upset me later was that Sue and Sunny, who sang with Joe live, and Madeleine, got all the credit for that. Listen closely and you just might just hear my sound. I remember talking to Madeleine about it and it was never really clear as to why I didn't get the credit for it.

Madeline Bell (backing vocalist) : We worked on it, myself, Sunny from Sue and Sunny and Rosetta Hightower. We did the vocal arrangement and we never got credit for it.

Joe had already done his vocals and he sat watching us. We double-tracked and it sounds like there are lots of us on there. We knew it was going to be a hit when we heard it. Never did we realise that it would get to number one. Nobody had heard of Joe Cocker at the time.
