Fact #169822

Short story:

Bob Dylan and Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers play at Treptower Festwiese, East Berlin, East Germany, Europe.

Full article:

Barry Dickins (promoter, ITB) : I’ve worked with Dylan for about twenty years, but one I particularly remember was when he played with Tom Petty in Treptower Park in Berlin, when he played to something like 150,000 people. It wasn’t even a festival, although it was free show, if I remember. I’d never seen that many people turn up for a single act. That was when Berlin was still East Germany, it was kind of weird.
