Full article:

Scotty Moore (guitarist for Elvis Presley] : We had fun doin' that. The original plan was to get all the original old guys together - do some of the early songs, and then go into the bigger production stuff. So me and D.J. went out there and we were just sitting around Elvis' dressing room jamming … and (tv producer) Steve Binder was there, and that's when he had the idea to do it in that fashion - rather than just going out and doing it concert style.

D.J. Fontana (drummer for Elvis Presley] : We were pretty scared … he'd never been on stage in front of an audience for seven or eight years and he was very nervous about it. He didn't know whether they'd like him or dislike him … he was very worried about it.

Scotty Mooore : Steve just said that he was going to shoot 'x' amount of film, and then go in and edit it to fit into the special. There was a list of songs - a suggested list of songs - that we did, but it was all very loose and he just sang what he wanted to.

D.J. Fontana : I told him, 'Elvis, go out there and try and, if they don't like it, what the hell can you do about it , man?' He was really concerned, but he went out there and he killed 'em.

Scotty Moore : We just went out and jammed. Had a lotta fun.

D.J. Fontana : And I told him after it, 'So, you didn't do too bad.'
